Hackers pose a serious threat to the U.S. healthcare system, according to a federal report.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and other federal agencies say a rise in cybercrime is beginning to focus on hospitals and health care providers nationwide, at a time when many are already overwhelmed by the COVID 19 pandemic.
Authorities explained the growing threat in a report compiled on Wednesday by the FBI, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and the Department of Health and Human Services.
The assessment states that the rapid increase in ransom attacks targeting various government operations over the past year is using malware that makes it virtually impossible for victims to recover data.
